Friends of Jeround’s Junior School!
Junior Jeround’s is a busy but friendly school, with lots going on. That’s why we exist. Our organization, the Friends of Junior Jeround’s, was setup so that the school always has some people to come to for help with stuff. We are a band of dedicated parents and members of the community who have come together to help maintain and improve upon the high standards of our local school so that all our children may benefit.
We hope that you enjoy your visit to our website, and that you find any information you are looking for. Please feel free to leave comments in the Guestbook, or contact the school direct with any queries you may have.
Thank you for visiting!
We function mainly as fundraisers. We scour the Internet for details of companies and other organizations who have a history of providing donations to charitable courses, and we petition them to donate money to Jeround’s Junior School. We recently secured a grant of £10,000 from a government body to redevelop the school football pitch, as well as a £1,000 donation from Discovery to buy new football equipment.
At the heart of the school is the belief in the good news of the gospel as expressed through the church. Jeround’s Junior is a worshiping community where the Eucharist, prayer and liturgies offer the chance for pupils and staff to express feelings of thanksgiving, petition, rejoicing and reflection based on a shared faith in Christ. It provides an education which is as concerned with formation as it is with information. We expand upon this by staging worship meetings for pupils and parents in the local community. We also arrange carol singing trips for children around the neighborhood at Christmas.
In addition to our primary activities, we also setup a number of after-school clubs so that students have something to do when they’re not in school. We aim for these clubs to be a place where students can develop their self-worth, self-esteem, confidence and independence. We have multiple after-school clubs associated with the school:
- Choir singing in the church on Thursday evenings.
- Netball practice in the school playground on Monday after school.
- Flamenco dancing at the local youth club at 7:00pm on Wednesdays.
- Video game nights, which take place at the home of a different parent each week.
